Entity SEO explained
An entity is a distinct, identifiable thing: a company, person, product, place or concept. Entity SEO makes sure the entities you care about — above all your brand — are described precisely, consistently and correctly wherever they appear.
The work has four parts: a precise description of what you are; consistent facts across everything you control; accurate structured data (such as Organization markup with sameAs links to official profiles); and corroboration by independent sources.
Entity SEO matters more as search moves from matching words to understanding things — and as AI answers describe companies directly.
Entity SEO: an example
A company that rebranded updates its name and description on its website, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and directories so search and AI stop using the old name.
Why it matters for search and AI visibility
AI answers describe brands using the facts they find. Inconsistent or unclear entities lead to wrong categories and outdated descriptions.
