AI search visibility for SaaS companies

Software buyers increasingly ask AI assistants for shortlists — "best CRM for a small agency", "Notion alternatives with offline mode", "HubSpot vs Zoho for Indian startups". If your product isn't in those answers, you may not make the evaluation at all.

At a glance

Category association
AI answers must know which category you belong to before they can recommend you in it.
Comparison visibility
"X vs Y" and "alternatives to X" answers lean on review sites and comparison articles.
Product facts
Plans, pricing models, integrations and limits stated clearly and consistently.
Documentation
Help centres and docs are frequently cited for how-to and capability questions.

1. Not associated with the right category

Many SaaS products describe themselves creatively — “the operating system for modern teams” — while buyers ask for “project management software”. If the category words buyers use don’t appear clearly and consistently on your site, profiles and reviews, AI answers may not connect you to the questions that matter.

What we do: align your category language across homepage, product pages, structured data, LinkedIn, review profiles and app marketplaces; make sure each core use case has a clear page.

2. Missing from comparison and “best” answers

For “best X for Y” and “X vs Y” prompts, answers lean on third-party sources: review platforms, software directories, comparison articles and community threads. A strong product can be absent simply because those sources haven’t caught up.

What we do: map the sources cited for your category prompts, audit your presence on each, complete and update profiles, brief the authors of relevant roundups accurately, and publish fair comparison pages of your own. See brand mention building.

3. Product facts that are hard to extract

Pricing hidden behind “contact sales”, features described only in screenshots, integrations listed as logos without text — all make it hard for AI answers to state facts about you. They then fill gaps from older or third-party sources.

What we do: make plans, pricing model, limits, integrations, security and compliance claims readable as text, with clear headings and tables; keep them current.

4. Documentation that isn’t working for discovery

Help centres often sit on separate subdomains, render client-side or block crawlers. Yet capability questions are commonly answered from docs.

What we do: technical review of your docs platform, crawlability and indexation; rewriting key articles answer-first.

5. Inconsistent product history

Renamed products, retired plans and old pricing persist in directories and articles — and get repeated.

What we do: an entity inventory of product descriptions, with corrections at the source.

What a SaaS engagement typically includes

  1. Prompt set across category, comparison, problem and brand questions.
  2. Baseline across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI features, with competitor benchmarks.
  3. Citation source map for your category.
  4. Fixes to product, pricing, comparison and documentation pages.
  5. Third-party presence programme: reviews, directories, marketplaces, roundups.
  6. Monthly measurement of mention, recommendation and citation share.

Common mistakes

  • Optimising the homepage tagline while review profiles still describe last year’s product.
  • “Alternatives” pages that list competitors’ weaknesses inaccurately.
  • Gating every useful fact behind a demo request.
  • Tracking only branded prompts and missing category questions entirely.

FAQ

SaaS: frequently asked questions

Should SaaS companies publish comparison pages against competitors?
Yes, if they are fair and factual. AI answers and buyers both use comparison content. One-sided pages that misrepresent competitors damage trust and are less likely to be used.
Does our help centre matter for AI visibility?
Often a lot. Capability questions — "can X export to Excel?", "does X support SSO?" — are frequently answered from documentation. Make sure it's crawlable, indexable and written in plain language.
Which review platforms matter?
The ones AI answers cite for your category. That varies; we identify them by sampling your category prompts and recording cited domains.
