AI search visibility for e-commerce brands

Shoppers now ask AI assistants things like "best running shoes for flat feet under ₹8,000" or "which air purifier is quietest for a bedroom?". The answers name specific products — and they depend heavily on product data, reviews and category pages being accurate and consistent.

At a glance

Product data consistency
The same name, specs, price and availability on your site, feeds and marketplaces.
Reviews and reputation
Genuine reviews are often summarised directly in AI answers — including complaints.
Category visibility
Buying guides and category pages that explain how to choose.
Shopping experiences
Google's shopping features and AI assistants' product results draw on structured product data.

1. Inconsistent product information

The same product often carries a slightly different name, spec list or price on your site, your Google Merchant Center feed, Amazon, Flipkart and comparison sites. AI answers that pull from several sources may state the wrong price or spec — or treat variants as different products.

What we do: product data audit across your site, feeds and major marketplaces; one source of truth for names, specs and attributes; structured data that matches visible content.

2. Thin product pages

Manufacturer descriptions copied across hundreds of retailers give AI answers nothing distinctive to cite. Key buying facts — dimensions, materials, compatibility, care, warranty — are often in images or PDFs.

What we do: product page templates that state the facts buyers ask about, as text, with comparison tables for close variants.

3. Reviews that tell an incomplete story

AI answers often summarise what reviewers say: “comfortable but runs small”. Few reviews, reviews only on one marketplace, or unresolved recurring complaints all shape that summary.

What we do: a compliant review-request programme across the platforms that matter, and feedback to product teams on recurring themes.

4. Weak category pages

Category pages that are just product grids miss “how do I choose?” questions — the ones where AI answers recommend specific products.

What we do: buying-guide content on category pages: who each option suits, key differences, sizing and specification guidance.

5. Technical issues at scale

Faceted navigation, duplicate variants, out-of-stock handling and JavaScript-rendered prices can confuse crawlers across thousands of URLs.

What we do: technical SEO for large catalogues — crawl control, canonicals, rendering and feed validation.

What an e-commerce engagement typically includes

  1. Prompt set around your categories, price points and use cases.
  2. Baseline of which products AI answers recommend, and from which sources.
  3. Product data and feed consistency audit.
  4. Template improvements for product and category pages.
  5. Reviews and marketplace presence plan.
  6. Monthly measurement of product-level visibility.

Common mistakes

  • Treating Merchant Center feeds and on-site data as separate projects.
  • Hiding prices or key specs in images.
  • Incentivised reviews that breach platform policies.
  • Optimising only best-sellers while category pages stay empty.

FAQ

E-commerce: frequently asked questions

Does Google Merchant Center affect AI shopping results?
Google's shopping experiences use product data from sources including Merchant Center feeds and structured data on product pages. Keeping that data accurate and complete supports visibility across Google's shopping surfaces.
Should we add Product schema to every product page?
Yes, accurately — name, price, availability, reviews where genuine. It must match what's visible on the page. It helps search engines understand products; it doesn't guarantee placement in AI answers.
How do negative reviews affect AI answers?
AI answers often summarise review themes, including recurring complaints. Addressing the underlying issues and responding constructively matters more than trying to hide reviews.
